Principal
Joseph B. Sankovich is a certified professional consultant with 30 years of Catholic cemetery experience. He began his formal cemetery career at a small parish cemetery in Dearborn, Michigan. This engagement sparked his interest in the contemporary challenges of this ministry.
His 6-year tenure as director of cemeteries for the Archdiocese of Seattle provided an opportunity to revitalize that organization and focus employee energy toward mission and ministry. His efforts brought Seattle Catholic cemeteries to the mainstream of diocesan and parish life.
Sankovich has also served as interim director of cemeteries in the Diocese of Tucson, Arizona; the Diocese of Saginaw, Michigan, and the Diocese of Springfield, Massachusetts. These engagements involved further refining of goals, programs, principles and convictions in both diocesan and parish cemeteries. Engagements in other dioceses have advanced his 8-discipline approach to Catholic cemetery mission and ministry.
This history makes his consulting practice unique in its ministerial emphasis and commitment. Sankovich holds a master's degree in New Testament theology. He is a certified cemetery executive and also held the designation of certified Catholic cemetery executive. Sankovich is a featured speaker at national and regional cemetery conventions and a contributor to religious and industry journals.
The retention of Sankovich & Associates secures consulting services that result in practical and fiscally sound solutions rooted in ministerial service. This approach assures a strong foundation and integration of cemetery programs into diocesan mission and ministry.
